Celebrating Women’s Legacy Month

This month is known as Women’s History Month, but I’ll be celebrating it as Women’s Legacy Month. I see Legacy as including and going beyond the past. Legacy means exploring the past, celebrating the present, and envisioning the future. I believe centering ourselves in the present and building a sense of hope for the future are essential parts of a month dedicated to the impact of women on the world.

One of the ways we humans connect with vast concepts (like the impact of women on the world) is by first reflecting on this concept in our own lives, then looking at how it’s at play in the lives of others we know and relate to, and finally by stretching our understanding to relate to others in the world whom we may not know personally.

This month, I’ll be interviewing three amazing women, who will take us on that journey through their lives and contributions:

  1. Heidi Kuhn will share how the history of pioneer women inspired her to found Roots of Peace

  2. Annie Gardner will share how competing with women on the international sailing scene prompted her to start Wind Goddess Retreats

  3. Ivy Schweitzer will share how she understands women’s studies after chairing the Women and Gender Studies department at Dartmouth College

If you haven’t already, sign up for the Humble Oak Mailing list to learn more about the journeys of these amazing women and to deepen your understanding of the legacy women have in our world.
